The New York Post in March of 2024 reported- The good news is that 79% of Americans surveyed consider themselves creative, with only 5% sharing that they don’t. Yet nearly three-quarters (72%) still wish they engaged in creative activities more often.

The Amplifier

YOUR CREATIVITY AMPLIFIES YOUR LEADERSHIP.

You've figured out something most people haven't. Your creativity isn't separate from your leadership; it's what makes you great at it. You trust your instincts because you've learned they're usually right, and this gives you a kind of confidence that's magnetic to other people.

WHAT SETS YOU APART:

  • When problems come up, you see possibilities others miss.

  • You make decisions quickly because you trust your intuition and can course correct as you go.

  • Leadership fills you up rather than depletes you because you're working from your strengths and talents.

  • People are drawn to your vision because they sense that it comes from an authentic and genuine place.

  • You can communicate complex ideas in ways that get people excited rather than overwhelmed.

  • You help others think bigger and approach challenges with curiosity rather than fear.

Your leadership style is uniquely yours, and that's exactly why it works. You're not copying someone else's playbook; you're leading from your creative strengths. The impact you have goes beyond just getting things done. Your creativity doesn't just make you a better leader, it makes the people around you better, too.

NEXT STEPS:

Try this: For the next week, notice when your leadership feels most effortless and energizing. What were you doing differently in those moments? Write down what you observe. This will help you replicate your natural strengths more intentionally

There’s always room to grow and learn when it comes to creativity. If you’re curious about what it could look like to leverage your creative leadership skills in even more powerful ways, reach out to me. Let’s talk about how you can amplify your impact even further.

A 2016 Adobe study found that 87% of people value creativity, but only 37% believe they are reaching their creative potential.

The Supporter

YOUR CREATIVITY SUPPORTS YOUR LEADERSHIP.

You know your creativity makes you a better leader when you remember to use it. The problem is you don't always trust it, especially when the stakes feel high or you're under pressure. Sometimes you're that person who sees the solution everyone else missed; other times, you default to safer approaches that work fine but don't feel authentic to you.

WHAT’S REALLY HAPPENING:

  • You can have brilliant insights, but then second-guess yourself when it's time to decide.

  • You take creative risks in low-stakes situations but revert to conventional thinking under pressure.

  • People can tell when you're fully engaged versus just going through the motions, and you’re not as effective as you could be if they know you’re not fully on board.

  • You know you have good instincts, but don't always act on them when it matters most.

  • You haven't fully learned to trust your creative voice as a legitimate leadership tool.

The inconsistency you're experiencing isn't a character flaw; it's a skill that can be developed. You're closer than you think to making creativity a reliable leadership asset. Once you strengthen this connection, leadership will feel more natural and sustainable.

NEXT STEPS:

Try this: Before your next important meeting or decision, ask yourself, "What would I do if I trusted my first instinct?" Write down that response, then notice what happens when you act on it versus when you don't.

Curious about how you can make your creative leadership more consistent and reliable? I help people like you strengthen the connection between their creative voice and their leadership capacity every single day. Let’s talk about what might be possible for you when creativity becomes a steadier part of your leadership.

A study published in the Journal of Positive Psychology in 2017 found that individuals who regularly engage in creative activities reported a 34% higher sense of meaning and purpose in life compared to those who do not.

The Competitor

YOUR CREATIVITY IS COMPETING WITH YOUR LEADERSHIP.

You think you have to choose between being creative and being taken seriously as a leader. So you end up fighting yourself, suppressing the very instincts that could make you most effective. This internal competition is exhausting and leaves you feeling drained rather than energized by leadership opportunities.

HOW THIS SHOWS UP:

  • You have great ideas, but talk yourself out of sharing them because they feel too unconventional.

  • You default to "proven methods" even when your gut tells you there's a better way.

  • You may excel at executing other people's visions but struggle to articulate your own.

  • You often avoid speaking up in meetings or defer to others even when you have valuable perspectives.

  • You find yourself copying other leaders' approaches even when they don't feel natural to you.

  • You feel like you're performing a role rather than leading from who you actually are.

The irony is that the creative voice you're trying to suppress could be exactly what makes you stand out as a leader. What you need to understand is that creativity and leadership aren't competing forces; they're natural partners. Your creative thinking can make you a more innovative problem solver and a more authentic leader. It’s the key you’ve been looking for.

NEXT STEPS:

Try this: Pick one small situation this week where you'll share your real perspective instead of the "safe" one. Start small, maybe in a team meeting or casual conversation. Notice how it feels and how the response you get might differ from the responses you’ve received in the past.

Curious about how to develop and capitalize upon your innate creativity? Let’s talk about how your creative voice can become your greatest leadership asset instead of something you feel you need to suppress.

Research published in the Journal of Positive Psychology (2017) found that people who engaged in creative activities reported a 34% higher sense of "meaning and purpose" in life compared to those who didn't regularly create.

The Saboteur

YOUR CREATIVITY SABOTAGES YOUR LEADERSHIP.

You feel completely disconnected from your creative voice, like you have nothing original to offer. You can't remember the last time you had an idea that excited you or felt genuinely inspired by anything. This disconnection shows up as avoiding leadership situations and assuming everyone else has better insights than you do.

HOW THIS SHOWS UP:

  • You avoid leadership situations because you don't trust your ideas.

  • You can't remember the last time you felt genuinely excited about an idea you had.

  • You assume other people's perspectives are more valuable than yours.

  • You spend hours preparing for meetings because you don't trust your ability to think on your feet.

  • You talk yourself out of opportunities before anyone else even has a chance to say no to them.

  • You feel like everyone else has some magical creative insight or ability that you're completely missing.

Your creative nature isn't the problem. The problem is that you've lost connection with it entirely. Once you start working with your creativity instead of against it, the transformation can be dramatic. You likely have way more leadership potential than you're currently accessing. THIS IS GOOD NEWS!!

NEXT STEPS:

Try this: For the next few days, catch yourself when you're about to dismiss your own idea or assume someone else knows more than you. Simply pause and ask, "What if this thought is actually worth considering?" You don't have to act on it (yet), just practice not automatically discounting yourself.

If you're curious about transforming your relationship with creativity to supercharge your leadership, let’s talk. We’ll explore what can happen when creativity becomes a source of strength rather than a limitation.

No matter where you are on this spectrum, the relationship between your creativity and your leadership can be nurtured, healed, and strengthened.

Final Thoughts:

Here's what I know: no matter which type you are, you absolutely have more leadership potential than you're currently accessing. The problem is you've likely been taught to work against your creative nature instead of with it. You don’t need to follow a “proven leadership formula” or become like someone else.

The shift comes when you stop fighting yourself and start leading from who you actually are. Then you’ll quit feeling like you have to choose between being creative and being taken seriously. You’ll start trusting your gut and making decisions that feel right. And you’ll begin to create the kind of impact that only happens when you're being genuinely yourself.

If you're curious about what becomes possible when your creativity starts amplifying your leadership instead of competing with it, let's talk. No strings attached.
